We started practice in West Sussex at The Kings Tail 8 Church Street Cuckfield, 109 High Street Lewes and 66 High Street Brighton East Sussex. Nigel Dalby Architecture is a registered RIBA Chartered Architects Practice member of the ARB with 30 years extensive experience. We believe a relaxed working relationship between Architect and Client is critical in achieving a successful project. We are specialist in residential projects using imaginative contemporary design detailing & sensitive alterations to both historic Listed Buildings and modern buildings.
Our reputation is based on design innovation and skills developed to achieve planning permissions on complex or difficult sites. We aim to produce designs and plans for construction of the highest quality and offer comprehensive Architects services, undertaking a wide range of projects, from small and large works to houses, product design to more complex commercial and public buildings whether in the UK or abroad. We apply an intense commitment to all our work in the belief that careful and imaginative design can transform a building project, bringing substantial benefits to the client, other users and the wider environment.
Many of our clients have unique requirements and unusual sites. We always strive to integrate both the interior, exterior and landscape design, as we consider it essential to produce a coherent design solution from small detail through to large scale. Projects are often most successful when the client’s brief, the historical grain and nature of the site and its wider urban or landscape context help inform the design at every level.
Nigel Dalby RIBA trained at the School of Architecture at Kingston University obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture (with Honours) and Diploma in Architecture in 1981 with final qualification as an Architect in 1982 and joining the RIBA in May 1983 as a Chartered RIBA Practice. He has worked in London, Surrey & Sussex for major UK practices including work within the UK and overseas ranging from Airport design to large company head offices, factories, hotels, nursing homes, along with developing bespoke designs for modern houses and housing schemes before establishing Nigel Dalby Architecture in 1987 due to pressure of private commissions. We have since been shortlisted in national competitions for Architects and in 2004 received the Commercial Award from The Sussex Heritage Trust.
