3 Construction Phases:

Phase 1

The main house required extensive refurbishment, partial demolition of the existing rear service wings and complete renewal of all statutory services, heating, electrical services, thermal upgrades, solar array, new bathrooms, alterations to the entrance hall. The original plan had separate service accommodation for staff with a second staircase serving kitchen, utility and storage. NDA developed a design concept in response to the clients brief to harmonise the old character of the house requiring the demolition of the old service accommodation and staircase and the addition of a generous a contemporary low energy glass and steel extension.

Phase 2

Demolition of attached substandard service wings and erection of a 2 storey contemporary glass, steel and timber framed stairwell with a new roof terrace. A floating Oak staircase links both ground floor entrance hall and first floor bedrooms to the new kitchen & dining room. The glazed Arcade extends from the new stairwell widening the existing kitchen to forma new kitchen and breakfast room with a glazed arcade as promenade/vista linking the south view and new garden entrance from the drive with a double height family room, changing room, dog room shower room. Hard and soft landscaping. Rendered west elevations to match house with fully glazed elevations to the east and south (garden) sides with extensive hard and soft landscaping.

Phase 3

The fully glazed arcade using IQ Glass sliding and fixed screens was extended from Phase 2. A new gymnasium and swimming pool hall with 17m x 5m NATURAL water (ie no chemicals) swimming pool, 2 storey plant room with Menerga Air Handling Unit and twin commercial grade Mitsubishi ASHPS and separate ASHP Plant Room and LPHW underfloor heating. 30 no PV panels (9.9kW) are sited on roof to help supplement ASHP demand. Landscaping scheme extended to suit.
