Minimalist Glass and Steel Extension to 1930s House in Ditchling Conservation Area

In this project we designed a Minimalist Structural Steel and Glass structure to elevate and enlarge the existing kitchen of a 1930s Country House to provide an exciting glazed kitchen and dining room overlooking the garden. To acheive sustainable and compliant thermal levels we applied external insulation to the existing walls and rerendered to match the existing. Succesfully achieved Conservation Area & Planning Approval and Building Regulations Approval.

Phase 1:

Single storey glass and steel wing extending the roof line of the (refurbished) garage along with a new glazed side entrance hall onto the entrance drive.

Phase 2:

Main house external elevations re-rendered over a new insulation layer finished with Parex render to upgrade the poor thermal performance of the building.

Phase 3:

First floor as redesigned to be implemented. New ASHP to be installed in place of the gas boiler to service the underfloor heating and wet radiators within the house.
